Gender communication is the way individuals communicate based on socially constructed gender roles. While feminist scholars show that communication patterns are reflected by power imbalances in society. Feminism displays the challenges of inequities between men and women. Specifically, ecofeminism shows the connection between exploitation of nature and the oppression of women. 

In the cartoon shown above it is an image of a woman representing mother nature and ecofeminism. She received mail from someone who holds a card representing the great job she does as mother nature. However, she is upset because the card is not on recycled paper which is supposed to help nature in the end.The way we treat the environment is tied into how society treats women and marginalized communities. Being devalued or exploited under many systems of domination. 

This cartoon is related to my life because of my care for the environment. Making sure to hold myself accountable for my personal choices from reducing waste or advocating for policies that protect the planet and people affected by environmental harm. My growing awareness of the connection between environmental issues and social justice is something I’ve learned through my education in public health.
