Interpersonal Communicating 

Chapter 9

Key Words- connection, digital, face-to-face

Interpersonal communication is a way for people to exchange information, ideas and emotions through both non-verbal and verbal methods. It can occur face-to-face, gestures, facial expressions, texts, calls and other digital forms. It is a form of connection with others in order to share a sense of understanding. 

Based on the article “We’re not addicted to smartphones, we’re addicted to social interactions” it showed that human behavior is seen through constant connections. On social media people are able to link each other’s posts, message each other and more. The image shown above shows the humans desire to connect, commenting on a story is a way for some to keep updates on what their friends are doing.   

Social media is where most people get their social interaction. During the pandemic social media was the main way for people to interact with each other and was relied on heavily. We text all day long even though people 

Platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and Zoom became our everyday life. A way for us to express ourselves through emojis and reactions while being physically distant in order to protect each other’s health. Personally, I see this in my own life as well, having family from other countries I am not able to see them face-to-face but due to social media I can see what they are doing or even build new relationships.
