Communication research is identifying the study of how people create, share and interpret messages. The researchers collect data through surveys, interviews or observation to better understand behaviors and patterns. The research helps to improve communication practices in many fields such as media, education and more. Additionally, many communication studies focus on narratives which create a personal story or experience and provide a deeper understanding into human interaction.
This image shows a man sitting at a desk doing research looking at books and online sources. He appears to be thinking and writing while text bubbles appearing reflecting his focus and engagement. This connects to chapter six because it shows an effort to bridge the gap between scientific ideas and a larger audience through narrative-driven and visually engaging comics. Blending all data collection, and narrative theory to explore how we can better inform, educate and connect with diverse audiences.
This is related to my personal life because I often find myself doing something similar. When doing assignments for class I enter a deep dive into research, gathering information and thinking critically before creating my work. Learning that communication is not just about presenting facts but finding ways to deliver them.
